Awesome App to Track Wine Inventory

I was able to inventory all of my wines easily and quickly with this app. The bar code feature matched up each bottle accurately and easy to use menu options. Excellent ratings and reviews on most of the wines I added. Assigns a value to most wines so you can track not only your inventory but also approximate value. Offers an upgrade to premium for a voluntary $20 or greater payment but well worth it.

Ok for ratings, Awful for management

App requires a substantial amount of effort to do almost anything. Too many options for each task presented all at once make doing anything a multi screen treasure hunt. It would be much better if the basics were streamlined and the options were just that. Its kind of the Windows 8 of database management - forget hierarchical menus, just lay it all out there and let the user search for it... I uninstalled after a few minutes trying to remove a couple of bottles from my cellar.

Nice job

Nice integration with vivino image search. Barcode scanning of UPC is extremely accurate. Great for scanning a label in a restaurant, UPC in the store or your own cellar.

Useless

Neither the bar code scanner, nor the image scanner works.

Best cellar inventory app on planet

This is by far the best wine tracking app and website around. It is comprehensive and thorough. I have 500 (estimate) bottles and it allows me to input price, number of bottles, drinking window, etc. Reviews from critics are a plus. Well done.

Great info, but cumbersome for data entry/edit

I am brand new to the app, so I am adding and editing a LOT to get my collection into this database. The web interface is pretty good with being able to use a keyboard, but this app is pretty lame, really. If not for the great information it provides access to, I would give it only 1 star for managing a collection. I was drawn to this by recommendation and availability of the app - previously used spreadsheet just fine. With the app, I figured I can update my wine inventory while down there in my wine room - rather than bringing a laptop down. Also, the barcode scanning should save me time, right? But, after scanning a barcode or otherwise finding my wine, it takes clicks through 5 different screens to get to where I can actually edit the location of my wine! And, if you are new to using the app, you’ll have to learn to scroll to the bottom of the page where they have cleverly disguised a “Save” button by naming it “Edit Wine”, which sounds like the same thing you have already clicked 3 times to get to that page. Before you learn, you might edit dozens of bottles like me, only to learn that none of the changes were saved. This violates Apple’s UI convention for all apps where changes are immediately applied, but makes some sense, if they gave the save button the right name and didn’t let you leave the page and lose the edits without any confirmation. Oh, and if you are editing multiple vintages of the same wine that you had in a list where you started to drop into edit, you will now have to hit the back button 5 times to get back to that list. The app is also pretty slow to respond. Those page changes take a few seconds each - and you might have to scroll down to find the next button to descend - but expect scrolling to hang up and then suddenly resume, remembering your finger movements so that it now scrolls much to far and you have to scroll back up - again, jerkily. Lots of promise. I’m sure once I get it all entered, it might not be so bad. Then I won’t be using it so much.

Must have for wine collectors

I am a collector and frequently research wine ratings and prices through this app. It also allows me to see my inventory and add/remove bottles from my phone. I also use it to decide which bottles to open for dinner, based on the drinking window. What a great free app.

Relies too much on desktop version

The ability to quickly search for wine by barcode or label recognition is really worth 5 stars alone because it is such a time saver. However after that, this app can get cumbersome - particularly if the app cant find the wine-there is no manual entry. There were inputs which I was repeating that the app saved which was great but others it didnt, so for each bottle I had to enter the same data (my bin location) every time. The most frustrating part about this app is that so many features youd like to have as you stand in your cellar with your mobile device, you dont because they are only available on the desktop version. Communications with the developer quickly identify the fact that they think this is acceptable and convenient work around but I am not going to lug my laptop around or keep running to my office. A very useful but missing feature is the ability to see the labels you enter when you view your collection in the list view. Instead all your wines have the same generic icon. You also cannot see any notes youve entered with your wine in this view. So again, you cannot, for example, quickly see which wine you may have opened with your Coravin device (since notes is the only way to indicate this info). If the search feature worked I suppose you could find it that way but I found it glichy at best. I really loved the graphical organization that Vinocell provided but gravitated to this app for the scanning ease. But until this one is more mobile friendly and more convenient at a glance, Ill probably go back to VinoCell and figure out a way to quickly get my data in there.

Interesting app but seems constrained by their database

Curious issue if the wine label is not recognized. The OCR seems to work superbly in recognizing a white we recently had from Hungary. But while the app accurately recognized the label, I could not proceed further since this was not a known wine. Terrible flaw.

What a great wine inventory, management and knowledge app

Incredible application to manage wine at home, off site, pending delivery, etc. The drinking window is typically spot on and the tasting notes are great. Well done.

Profoundly stupid

Assigns a unique barcode to each bottle based on all the bottles in the world. Want a nice series of values for your inventory? Nope. Therefore you cant pre-print a unique series of barcode labels. Just worthless for cellar management. The value is in having access to all the other suckers data, especially reviews and pricing.

Clunky

I tried to figure this app out but it never made sense and flowed for me. I found it difficult to find and add bottles of wine.

App Not Working

After updating to the latest version, I cant get past the start screen. Previous versions have worked for me. A fix is needed. Im on an iPhone 6S Plus with IOS 9.3.1.

OK but far from ideal

A lot of sins of app developers embodied in this app: terrible design, an attempt to reproduce the Web site in every detail, terrible workflow, nonintuitive menu system and pages buried beneath many other pages. Entering multiple bottles of wine is possible but a pain. Terrible selection of interfaces for data entry. For example why use a scroll wheel for entering bin number, rather than a number pad? Its crazy. But, not much else out there.

Best Customer Support

I use Corkz to manage my cellar. However, Cellar Tracker is the actual database. App works perfect. On top of it all if you cant find a bottle in the catalog one email and you will get a response within minutes from a REAL person stating that it has been added. Great support for a super useful app.
